Position Overview: We seek a motivated and detail-oriented Life Cycle Assessment and Circular Economy Intern to join our sustainability team and support our work on sustainability and circular economy within the railway sector. In this role, you will work closely with our team to conduct environmental assessments, apply circular economy principles, and drive improvements in the sustainability of trains and their components. This internship offers a unique opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world projects, gain hands-on experience in LCA, and deepen your expertise in sustainability and circular economy.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) using established methodologies to explore and optimise circular strategies within the value chain of train components.
Collect and analyse data on materials, energy, emissions, and waste to identify environmental impacts throughout each product lifecycle stage.
Assist in interpreting LCA results, providing actionable insights to support sustainable decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
Collaborate on preparing reports and visual presentations, effectively summarising findings and delivering recommendations to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
You are enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Environmental Science, Material Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
You understand LCA methodology and its practices well; ideally, you have completed a project using LCA methodology as part of your studies.
Strong ability to understand and analyse complex, interconnected processes across different systems.
You possess excellent analytical skills, keen attention to detail, and accuracy in data handling.
Strong communication skills, able to present complex information concisely and effectively.
Self-motivated, proactive, and keen to learn new concepts.
